Making The Impossible Possible With The Green Screen!

The use of green screen in movies and television has been widely used in the entertainment industry. People for a very long time have been in awe of how super heroes can fly that high up in the clouds or how models take shoots in the most gorgeous or inhospitable places. It’s always been a confusion as to how these happen, but there’s only one answer to this and that is the power and magic of the green screen. With this technique, one can do shoots or take photos by just inserting a background of any place that the director wants.

All this is made possible with the help of green screen. This technique has reduced the cost of making a film immensely. A person can go to places that he has never went, bring in situations and places, can make his fantasy come true with the help of this technique. This technique is very common in televisions.

One great example of this usage of green screen in weather forecasting. The tv always shows a the newscaster standing in front of the a very cartoon-looking globe and speaking about the different weather situations around the world. But in reality, the studio only has a green screen background present and then the picture is inserted to make it look real. This type of technique in using the green screen is being followed by all the television channels.

The use of green screen is very very simple. A person will only need a camera, the green screen itself and and software that edits videos. The person has to make sure that the color tone is the same all throughout, without ever changing the shade of the color at all. The surface should be kept evenly while in the process of taping, or else it would be very challenging to edit the parts correctly. Another thing that needs to be considered is that the subject should have a little bit of the green color as well. A teeny bit part of the subject can have green shades or even have very similar shades as well. When the subject has a very small portion of green, it is much easier to reduce or minimize the impact of the edges that might pop up if the edges are unequal and are dissimilar. But the main part of the subject should not have any trace of the same color as well. Or else, when it comes to the editing part, it will appear as though there is a hole or hollow space on the subject itself.

Proper lighting is also required when the green screen method is being used. Once the screen is erected, the next step is to shoot the subject. To attain perfection using this method, the subject should have a well defined outline as it will be easier to cut the subject and place it in a new background. There should not be loose edges on the subject. The lighting should be perfect. The camera should concentrate on the subject and not on the background of the subject. This is very important as the subject may not look clear when it is edited. This technique works the best when it is shot outdoors.
